Central African Republic ::

Bangassou is the second biggest city of the Central African republic. It is located on the banks of the Bmomou river a tributary of the Congo, in the East of the country. Before the French moved in it was the capital of a Sultanate founded by the Bandia clan of the Azende tribe .

The Boulevard the Gaulle is one of the main axis of the city. The Hotel Bangui which is on the boulevard is a good place for meeting foreigners and getting information about onward travel. In these parts things can change quickly.

The area around Bangassou has high species and ecosystem diversity, and an unusual blend of forest and savanna flora and fauna, including threatened populations of forest and savanna elephants, and the northernmost population of chimpanzees in central Africa.
